Back To The Basement

[Verse 1]

You pulled up to my doorstep

Same hoodie from that summer rain

Laughing at my keychain

Trying hard to hide that shake in your hands

[Pre-Chorus]

We said we’d just be friends

But your eyes keep dragging me back in

All the lines that we pretend

Fall apart when you lean in

[Chorus]

Take me back to the basement

Back when love was a secret

Hearts racing in the dark

No one knew

We could feel it

We talk like we’re so grown now

Bills

Bad bosses

Being tired

Then you trace my old tattoos

Like you’re trying to start a fire

[Pre-Chorus]

You swear “this is the last time”

But your hands don’t listen to your mind

Every promise

Every line

Falls away when your lips touch mine

[Chorus]

Take me back to the basement

Back when love was a secret

Hearts racing in the dark

No one knew

We could feel it

You say “boy

This is dangerous”

I say “I already tasted”

Every time that you say you’re done

You come back to the basement

(yeah you do, yeah you do)

[Bridge]

Why we always run in circles

Why we always end up here

Same old sweatshirt

Same old perfume

Same old “this time I’m sincere”

If this isn’t what you wanted

Why you always make that drive

Guess we’re both a little haunted

By the best days of our lives

[Chorus]

Take me back to the basement

Back when love was a secret

Hearts racing in the dark

No one knew

We could feel it

You say “boy

This is dangerous”

I say “I already tasted”

Every time that you say you’re done

You come back to the basement

(you come back, you come back)

[Chorus]

Take me back to the basement

Back when love was a secret

Say you’re leaving

But every time

You rewind to where we left it

You say “boy

This is dangerous”

I say “I’m already wasted”

Every time that you say you’re done

You come back to the basement

(you come back, you come back)
