Back to the River

Tried to fix it in a moment

Changed my hair

Changed my name

But every mirror kept on saying

“Boy

You still the same”

[Pre-Chorus]

Then grace came running faster than my failure (hey)

Pulled me from the edge I built myself

Now every breath is singing like a prayer

Yeah

I finally found a love that holds me well

[Chorus]

Take me back to the river

Where my heart first came alive

Where the weight fell off my shoulders

And my tears were turning bright

Every time that I remember

How You met me in that tide

I just run back to the river

Back to the river of Your life (ooh, Your life)

[Verse 2]

I still feel that old pressure

Tryna prove what I’m worth

But You call me Your treasure

Heaven’s name on my shirt

So when my doubts start talking

Say I’m bound to reverse

I just lean on the promise

You already said first

[Pre-Chorus]

Your grace keeps running faster than my failure (yeah)

You rewrite every story that I tell

Even in the valley

You’re my anchor

I’m standing in a mercy I can’t sell

[Chorus]

Take me back to the river

Where my heart first came alive

Where the weight fell off my shoulders

And my tears were turning bright

Every time that I remember

How You met me in that tide

I just run back to the river

Back to the river of Your life

[Bridge]

Flow in my Monday

Flow in my Friday (flow)

Flow when I’m up and when I’m quiet

Flow in my family

Flow in my mind

Yeah

Wash every fear

Every lie

[Chorus]

Take me back to the river

Where my heart first came alive

Where the weight fell off my shoulders

And my tears were turning bright

Every time that I remember

How You met me in that tide

I just run back to the river

Back to the river of Your life (Your life)

Back to the river of Your life (ooh yeah)
