Bright Side Of The Blues

[Verse 1]

Same old coffee

Same chipped cup

Bills on the table

Keep adding up

Screen keeps glowing

But my eyes feel rough

Told myself “someday”

Guess someday’s had enough

[Pre-Chorus]

I’ve been talking like I’m broken

But I’m breathing

I’m still here

All that weight I keep on holding

Melts a little when you’re near (yeah)

[Chorus]

I got the bright side of the blues

Hurting

But I’m singing it loud

Tears in my eyes

Still breaking through

Turning this pain into a crowd

Every scar’s a line I use

Writing my way out of the doubt

I got the bright side of the blues

And I’m gonna ride it out (ride it out)

[Verse 2]

Missed that payday

Car broke down

Smiled at the tow truck

Said

“Take this town” (hey!)

Luck runs empty

But my heart runs deep

If I can’t buy heaven

I’ll play it on these strings

[Pre-Chorus]

Every setback

Every story

Is a chorus in disguise

I see failure

Then I see glory

When I look through your eyes (oh)

[Chorus]

I got the bright side of the blues

Hurting

But I’m singing it loud

Tears in my eyes

Still breaking through

Turning this pain into a crowd

Every scar’s a line I use

Writing my way out of the doubt

I got the bright side of the blues

And I’m gonna ride it out

[Bridge]

[Dynamic drop – drums pull back

Guitar palm-muted

Vocal almost a whisper]

Hands up high if you feel that ache

Heart still sore but it will not break

We bend

We bend

But we don’t fold

We shine right through the cracks we hold (yeah)

[Chorus]

I got the bright side of the blues

Hurting

But I’m singing it loud

Tears in my eyes

Still breaking through

Turning this pain into a crowd

Every scar’s a line I use

Writing my way out of the doubt

I got the bright side of the blues

And I’m gonna ride it out (oh)

I got the bright side of the blues

Yeah

I’m gonna ride it out (ride it out)
