Cempasúchil Sky

I followed a trail of flowers

Through the amber of my mind

Each petal held a doorway

To the love I left behind

The evening licked the river

Where your laughter used to stay

And I felt your gentle presence

In the hush before the day

No fear could name the distance

When your shadow touched the light

Only peace began to bloom there

In the velvet of the night

So I walk, I walk on flowers

Through the memory and the grace

With my hands up to the heaven

Where I meet you face to face

If your heart ends on the other side

I know it's not goodbye

I will carry you in love now

Like a candle through the sky

There were roses on the staircase

And jasmine in the air

Every step became a prayer

I could whisper anywhere

I heard your name in rainfall

In the tremble of the core

And the room became a sanctuary

Where sorrow was restored

No fear could name the distance

When your shadow touched the light

Only peace began to bloom there

In the velvet of the night

So I walk, I walk on flowers

Through the memory and the grace

With my hands out to the heaven

Where I meet you face to face

If your heart is on the other side

I know it's not goodbye

I will carry you in love now

Like a candle through the sky

And if the veil is only mercy

Then let mercy be my guide

I will cross it like a river

With your love still by my side

Every bloom along the pathway

Is a promise softly heard

That the soul is never vanished

Only changing into word

So I walk, I walk on flowers

Through the memory and the blaze

With my hands out to the heaven

Where I meet you face to face

No more fear, just sweet surrender

In the light that never dies

I will find you in the singing

I will hold you with my eyes

Trail of flowers

Trail of flowers

Reading me to where you are

Love is stronger than the silence

And it shines beyond the stars
