Cracked Teacup Apology

A cracked teacup by the sink

Steam gone cold before I blink

Your apology came soft and light

Like a key that found the wrong key

Hold it in your hands, don't let it fall

A small apology can fix it all

But I still hear you when the kitchen goes quiet

And the hush between us trying to make it right

Sugar on the counter, light on the wall

We were both too proud to call

You looked away, I looked too long

Now the silence feels like a song

Hold it in your hands, don't let it fall

A small apology can't fix it all

But I still hear you when the kitchen goes quiet

In the hush between us trying to make it right

Cracked teacup by the sink

And my sudden apology
