Dim Light Confessions

The city hums in velvet under rain;

I trace your name in rings of coffee stain;

A half-remembered smile drifts through the glass;

Like every tender thing we knew all last;

I speak your ghost in love;

Careful tones;

As if the dark were listening alone;

And every silent fall in this room;

Find your perfume before it finds the moon;

In the dim light I confess;

I still wear your quiet absence;

Every slow and silver ray;
