Island Afterglow

[Intro]

Waves on the windshield

Salt in the air I breathe

Sun on your shoulder

You lean a little closer to me

[Verse 1]

Sand on the floor of your old Jeep

Bare feet

Tan lines

Bare teeth when you laugh

Little hair tie on my wrist now

We take the back road slow

Don’t care where it ends at

[Pre-Chorus]

You say

"Stay right here"

Like forever’s not that long

Every mile disappears

When you start singing that song (oh-oh)

[Chorus]

Island afterglow

You and me

All night

Taking it slow

Fire on the shore

Hearts on a roll

Dancing in the dark like nobody knows

Island afterglow

Still on my skin when the trade winds blow

Wherever I go

I’m carrying home

That island

Island afterglow

[Verse 2]

Plastic cup

Your name in Sharpie

Lip print

Pink tint

Now it’s hard to let go

You steal the chair beside my towel

Say

"Shade’s better here" like I don’t already know

[Pre-Chorus]

You say

"Stay right here"

Let the whole world sail on by

Every care disappears

Every time you catch my eye (oh-oh)

[Chorus]

Island afterglow

You and me

All night

Taking it slow

Fire on the shore

Hearts on a roll

Dancing in the dark like nobody knows

Island afterglow

Still on my skin when the trade winds blow

Wherever I go

I’m carrying home

That island

Island afterglow

[Bridge]

Late flight

City lights

Still taste the sea on my lips tonight

Close my eyes

You’re in my hands

Warm rain

White sand

[Chorus]

Island afterglow

You and me

All night

Taking it slow

Fire on the shore

Hearts on a roll

Dancing in the dark like nobody knows

Island afterglow

Still on my skin when the trade winds blow

Wherever I go

I’m carrying home

That island

Island afterglow (yeah)

That island

Island afterglow
