Jasper Days

Morning wakes on a valley floor,

Golden light through the cabin door,

Pine wind moving soft and slow,

Where the northern clear streams flow.

High above in the sky so still,

Stands Mount Edith Cavell,

Snow like silver on her face,

Watching over this quiet place.

Under painted skies of gold,

Every memory gently unfolds,

Echoes carry down the line,

Where the spruce and the silence entwine.

Oh Jasper, Alberta, wild and free,

You keep a piece of the heart in me,

From Pyramid Mountain to the river bend,

You call me back again and again.

Where the sun shines warm on summer days,

And time gets lost in the mountain haze,

There’s no place sweeter I have seen,

Than Jasper in the evergreen.

Pyramid Mountain catches dawn,

Pink first light then the shadows gone,

Mirror skies and the morning air,

Make a man forget his cares.

Old Man Mountain stands alone,

Weathered face carved of stone,

Whispered secrets in the breeze,

River songs through trembling leaves.
