Late Check-Out Heart

[Verse 1]

You booked that one-way flight

Left your sweater on my chair

Spotify still logged in

Half your toothbrush in the air

You said “I’ll call from Rome”

Typed it out

Then hit erase

Gave a half-smile in the doorway

Like you’re scared to leave this place

[Pre-Chorus]

Is this a goodbye

Or a glitch in the plan

You keep your hands in your pockets

I keep reaching for your hand (yeah)

[Chorus]

You’re a late check-out heart

Always leaving

Never gone

Got your suitcase in the hallway

But your playlist running on

I keep making up reasons

Why you linger in my room

You’re a late check-out heart

And I’m still saving you some space for noon

[Verse 2]

You circle dates on my fridge

Then you sleep through every train

Say you’re chasing something bigger

But you can’t explain the name

You wear my old blue tee

When you swear you’ll “pack light this time”

Every almost

Every maybe

Fills the silence in my mind

[Pre-Chorus]

Is this just your way

Of staying halfway in

You keep talking like you’re leaving

Then you kiss me again (oh)

[Chorus]

You’re a late check-out heart

Always leaving

Never gone

Got your suitcase in the hallway

But your playlist running on

I keep making up reasons

Why you linger in my room

You’re a late check-out heart

And I’m still saving you some space for noon

[Bridge]

What if you miss that flight on purpose

What if you cancel every plan

What if you stopped the disappearing

Let your future hold my hand (my hand)

[Chorus]

You’re a late check-out heart

Always leaving

Never gone

Got your suitcase in the hallway

But your playlist running on

I keep making up reasons

Why you linger in my room

You’re a late check-out heart

So I keep saving you some space for noon (for noon)
