Malu Must Die

Let's make this version tight

Darker and more theatrical

Built to stay under three minutes

Mother must die

The water knows

The woman knows

He promised he would stay

There's a woman in the moonlight

With a warning in her eyes

There's a waterfall ascending to an unforgiving sky

He can call it just a nightmare, he can swear I'll never leave

But the island gives its secrets and the ocean doesn't sleep

One road out, no road home

Some debts for the way you roam

Malu must die, Malu must die

That's what the fire keeps saying

Malu must die

Malu must die

That's what the water implies

From the warning, but he can't help but die

Malu must die

There's a crumpled jet lighter

Bringing smoke into the trees

There's a shadow in the water

Moving silently beneath

There's a room above the city

There's a chain he cannot break

There's a tower waiting somewhere

For one final bad mistake

One road out, no road home

Every dream collects its own

But a warning isn't destiny

A prophecy can lie

The future wears a hundred faces

Only one of them must die

The island called him backward

The living pulled him on

By the time they learned the difference

Someone else was already gone

Malu must die

Malu must die

That's how the prophecy survives

Malu must die

Malu must die

Keep repeating it until you believe the lie

As the story goes, a warning was told

Now only his legend grows old

Malu must die

Tell me something true

This is just a dream

And so am I
