Midnight Lanterns in the Fog

Under lantern light, the street hauls its breath

Fog rolls low like a whisper from the dead

Every window hides a secret behind glass

Every footstep fades too quickly as I'll pass

Eerie piano taps the edge of night

Muted strings drift softly out of sight

Celestia sparks like shards of distant rope

And the dark keeps time beneath the ruined moat

Hush, hush

Midnight listens close

Shadows move where the cold wind flows

No one speaks but the silence knows

We walk through the haze where the lanterns glow

Brush percussion marks a slow uneasy pace

Subtle drums curl around the empty space

A ghostly choir rises barely there

Like a breath on the back of the stair

Hush, hush, the midnight

The night glistens close

Shadows move where the cold wind flows

No one speaks but the silence knows

We walk through the haze

Where the lanterns glow

The clock turns thin

Here the secrets gather in

Midnight waits with open eyes

And the street remains alive
