Midnight Someone

[Verse 1]

Half-price coffee in a corner cup

Taxi doors yawning

Street’s all dressed up

I trace your face in a fogged-up glass

Like I’ve been here

I’ve been here

Billboard colors on my borrowed shoes

Strangers’ faces flicker

Then they lose you

Every echo sounds like you just laughed

Then it’s gone again

Gone again

[Chorus]

I’m looking for my midnight someone

The one who only knows my name in sleep

You keep pulling me through every crosswalk

Then you disappear before I speak

Midnight someone

Where are you hiding from the sun?

I’m wide awake and chasing down

A dream that used to run

[Verse 2]

Storefront mannequins in party clothes

Hold their plastic breaths as the traffic slows

I swear I feel you in the passing breeze

Say my name once

Say it

Please

Paper flyer on a brick wall peels

Phone number smudged

But the ache feels real

I type your name in a map that’s blank

Follow nothing

Till it’s you I thank

[Chorus]

I’m looking for my midnight someone

The one who only knows my name in sleep

You keep pulling me through every crosswalk

Then you disappear before I speak

Midnight someone

Where are you hiding from the sun?

I’m wide awake and chasing down

A dream that used to run

[Bridge]

Maybe you’re a face I passed last year (ooh)

On a train I barely caught in time

Maybe you’re a voice I’ll almost hear

Right before the morning cuts the line

[Chorus]

I’m looking for my midnight someone

The one who only knows my name in sleep

You keep pulling me through every crosswalk

Then you disappear before I speak

Midnight someone

If I wake up and you’re gone

I’ll walk this maze again tonight

Until my dream turns on
