Neon Afterglow

Midnight slides in on a silver groove

Streetlights blink and the cold winds move

I keep my cool in a velvet frame

Heartbeats pulse, but I won't say your name

Every glance is a spark in time

Every slip stays right on the line

You pull me close, I don't break form

I dance the edge where the nights stay warm

Neon lights glow

I′m lit but I won't show

Spinning in the park is where the cool girls go

Neon loves to glow

But the old feels slow

Under the marigold

I light a chamomile

Your shadow cuts through the arcade light

I read your moves like a perfect spite

No wasted words, no dramatic scene

Just a baseline slipping through the sheen

My touch has a measured spark

Every laugh is a trace in the dark

You say my name like a final chord

I keep my pulse in the rhythm drawer

Neon afterglow

I'm lit but I won't show

Spinning in the pocket where the cool girls go

Neon afterglow

Let the old fears flow

Under the mirror ball

I let it shimmer low

If I fall, let it be in time

If I burn, let it stay refined

I don't need a blazing twist

Just your hand and a Santa-kissed nest

Neon afterglow, I'm lit, but I didn't show

Spinnin' in the pocket where the cool girls go

Neon afterglow, like they all feel so

Under the mirror ball

I let it shimmer low
