Paper Wishes

[Verse 1]

I fold my hopes

Into tiny paper cranes

Line them on the windowsill

All facing toward the rain

You laugh and say

They’ll never learn to fly

But you still help me crease the wings

And promise you’ll stay by my side

[Chorus]

So I’m making wishes

On dust in the sunlight

On dandelion seeds

Caught in your hair

Every little maybe

Floating through the quiet

I send them up

I send them up

And you’re already there

[Verse 2]

You drive too slow

Down that old gravel road

So we can count the clouds

‘til the sky turns gold

You tell me dreams

Are just plans in disguise

I write them on your receipt

And tuck it in your visor tonight

[Chorus]

‘Cause I’m making wishes

On dust in the sunlight

On dandelion seeds

Caught in your hair

Every little maybe

Floating through the quiet

I send them up

I send them up

And you’re already there

[Bridge]

Maybe it’s foolish

To talk to the evening air (oh oh)

But every soft secret

Seems safer out there

If all that we are

Is this moment we share

Then I’ll keep on wishing

You’ll always be here

[Chorus]

I’m still making wishes

On dust in the sunlight

On dandelion seeds

Caught in your hair

Every little maybe

Floating through the quiet

I send them up

I send them up

And you’re already there

I send them up

I send them up

And you’re already there
