Pumpkin Spice and Bad Decisions

I spent too much on a costume I wore for 20 minutes

By nine o'clock, the cheap plastic boots were splitting

The pumpkin on my porch had a face like a bad decision

Then my sweet drink spilled right down my sleeve in the living room

We said we'd be cool, said we'd leave before midnight

Now the fridge is humming

And the neighbors know our timeline

It's another grown-up Halloween

We're dressed like dreams that lost the scene

Laughing at the mess, laughing at the scene

Sweet dreams and bad ideas in between

It's another grown-up halloween

We're all a little haunted, all of it we don't need

To ourselves, but hey, it's fine by me

We'll trip over the chaos and call it a memory

I found fake cobwebs in my bag from three Halloweens ago

A little glitter, a receipt, and a questionable glow

A front door bell kept ringing like it had something to prove

While somebody in the kitchen sang off-key to move

We swore we'd keep it classy from the candy bowl empty

Now we're trading ghost stories with the lights all pinkly

It's another grown-up Halloween

We're just like dreams that lost the scene

Laughing at the mess, laughing at the scene

With sweet drinks and bad ideas in between

It's another grown-up halloween

We're all a little haunted, all a little mean

To ourselves, but hey, it's fine by me

We'll trip over the chaos and call it a memory

The moon is bright, the yard is wrecked

Someone lost a cape, someone lost a bet

But the night keeps spinning and so do we

A little embarrassed, a little set free

It's another grown-up Halloween

We're dressed like dreams that lost the scene

Knife in at the mist, knife in at the scene

With sweet dreams and bad ideas in between

It's another grown-up Halloween, we're all a little haunted, all a little mean

To ourselves, but hey, it's fine by me

We'll trip over the chaos and call it a memory

So for one more, let the records play

We can regret it later

Not today
