Shimmer in the Dark

[Intro]

You breathe in my ear

Slow halo of sound

Heart skipping a frame

We’re leaving the ground

[Verse 1]

Your hair on my face

Like curtains of smoke

I’m tracing your name

In the heat of your coat

You laugh in a sigh

It trembles my jaw

I’m losing my words

To the shape of your drawl

[Pre-Chorus]

We’re talking about nothing

But it’s everything

Everything

Little pauses folding

Into something we don’t name

[Chorus]

Shimmer in the dark

Say my name so soft it hurts

Every little spark

Blooming in between your words

Hold me in that hush

Where the world just falls apart

I could live forever

In your shimmer in the dark

[Verse 2]

We sink in the couch

Like ships in the foam

Blue shadows that dance

On the ceilings of home

Your thumb on my wrist

Counting each beat

The room disappears

Till it’s only our heat

[Pre-Chorus]

We’re talking about nothing

But it’s everything

Everything

Silence turns to something

When your mouth is close to me

[Chorus]

Shimmer in the dark

Say my name so soft it hurts

Every little spark

Blooming in between your words

Hold me in that hush

Where the world just falls apart

I could live forever

In your shimmer in the dark

[Bridge]

Say it slow

Right on my skin

Let the same small sound

Call me again

Say it slow

Like it’s a prayer

Every quiet letter

Hanging in the air

[Chorus]

Shimmer in the dark

Say my name so soft it hurts

Every little spark

Blooming in between your words

Hold me in that hush

Where the world just falls apart

I could live forever

In your shimmer in the dark
