Front Porch Faithful

[Verse 1]

Coffee in your favorite cup

Chipped blue rim

You won’t give up

You hum a hymn beneath your breath

Bare feet on the steps

Sun sneaks through that screen door crack

Morning on your shoulders

I watch your back

Every little ordinary thing you do

Feels like a prayer come true

[Chorus]

I’m gonna love you like front porch faithful

Same old swing

Still feeling grateful

Every day

Every season that we face

From the first light on your skin

To the last one

Say "amen"

I’ll be right here in this same old place

Front porch faithful to your face

[Verse 2]

You’re thumbing through that weathered book

Flour on the cook

You laugh and say the years flew by

I see ’em shining in your eyes

We’ve had storms that shook these boards

Slammed a few doors

Said some hard words

But you took my hand

Said

"Baby

Stay"

We bowed our heads and found our way

[Chorus]

I’m gonna love you like front porch faithful

Same old swing

Still feeling grateful

Every day

Every season that we face

From the first light on your skin

To the last one

Say "amen"

I’ll be right here in this same old place

Front porch faithful to your face

[Bridge]

When my hair turns white as winter

And your hands shake pouring sugar in your tea (oh, darlin’)

I’ll still be leaning on this railing

Leaning on your heart

The way you leaned on me

[Chorus]

I’m gonna love you like front porch faithful

Same old swing

Still feeling grateful

Every day

Every season that we face

From the first light on your skin

To the last one

Say "amen"

I’ll be right here in this same old place

Front porch faithful to your face
