Last Ones On The Floor

[Verse 1]

Plastic cups on the radiator

Coats piled up on the bed

Your lipstick print on a paper plate

Jokes we already said

The TV glow on your tired face

Static from someone’s phone

You say

“Guess that’s it for tonight”

Like you’re talking to the room alone

[Chorus]

We’re the last ones on the floor

When the song is over

Holding on to nothing much

But a borrowed October

You lean your head on the kitchen door

Say you should go

But you don’t

We’re the last ones on the floor

In a house that isn’t home

[Verse 2]

Somebody’s keys on the windowsill

They left an hour ago

You trace your name in the ring of a glass

Letting the silence grow

You laugh and ask if I’ll miss this place

Like it’s already gone

I say

“Maybe just nights like this”

You say

“Yeah

Me too

” then yawn

[Chorus]

We’re the last ones on the floor

When the song is over

Holding on to nothing much

But a borrowed October

You lean your head on the kitchen door

Say you should go

But you don’t

We’re the last ones on the floor

In a house that isn’t home

[Bridge]

Outside

Cabs in the rain

Headlights fade

Then fade again

Inside

Our shadows sway

To a track that ended yesterday (oh)

[Chorus]

We’re the last ones on the floor

When the song is over

Holding on to nothing much

But a borrowed October

You take your coat

Say “It’s getting late”

I say “I know

” but I don’t

We’re the last ones on the floor

Letting go of what we won’t
