Late Check-In

[Verse 1]

You hit my phone at 1:15

“U up?” with a black heart emoji

You only call when the floor feel cheap

And you need someone to hold your body

Yeah

We said we would keep it cool

But your hands never learned that rule

You say “chill

It’s just you and me”

Then you start tracing down my jewelry

[Pre-Chorus]

You say “don’t overthink it”

But you keep pouring more in my drink

Yeah

You move closer like a promise

But you leave before the morning honest

[Chorus]

You’re my late check-in

Right when I should be leaving

Every time you buzz my door

I let you in

I let you in (oh)

You’re my wrong direction

But it feel so right this evening

I know I’ll crash again

But I still spin

I still spin

For that late check-in

[Verse 2]

You love to play that jealous card

Ask who’s blowing up my DMs now

You want my heart but you guard your scars

Always pull away when I say “slow down”

You kiss me like you own this place

Then laugh and say it’s “just a phase”

But your lipstick on my nightstand cup

Tell a story that you never wanna bring up

[Pre-Chorus]

You say “don’t overthink it”

Then you press your name into my skin

Yeah

“Let’s not ruin what we’re chasing”

But you’re the one who keeps replacing

[Chorus]

You’re my late check-in

Right when I should be leaving

Every time you buzz my door

I let you in

I let you in (yeah)

You’re my wrong direction

But it feel so right this evening

I know I’ll crash again

But I still spin

I still spin

For that late check-in

[Bridge]

Tell me

Do you feel it when you ghost me?

Scroll my page

Then act like you don’t know me (know me)

If this is nothing

Why you always coming back?

Why you always running back? (yeah)

[Chorus]

You’re my late check-in

Right when I should be leaving

Every time you buzz my door

I let you in

I let you in (oh)

You’re my wrong direction

But it feel so right this evening

I know I’ll crash again

But I still spin

I still spin

For that late check-in
