Song Details

Make a song about an Indian man growing up in the USA. Parents came over the USA from India in the 70s and had me in the 80s. Grew up as an American but full breed Indian boy making a difference in the rap game. Raps about how it wa ma hard growing up as an Indian boy going to American schools. Was born in the ghetto and made it out the ghetto and pursed his career as a rapper. Blew up over night and now my family disowned me until I made millions and now they’re on my ass like white on rice asking for a handout but never talked to me when I was broke. So I broke away from the Indian culture and devoured the American dream. I have uncles that own 711s and Dunkin’ Donuts and couldn’t even offer me a job to keep it in the family. Everything I have now is self made from hard work

Lyrics

Moms and pops hit the states in ‘79,

Dreams in their luggage, a new world to find,

Born in the eighties where the sirens never die,

Indian blood, but I lived with the struggle in my eyes.

Classrooms laughed when I pulled up in my shoes,

Skin too brown for their narrow-minded views,

Lunchbox filled with the flavors of my home,

They made fun of curry, but the pain made me grown.

I bled both flags, lost in the in-between,

Grew up American, kept my heritage unseen,

But every seed I planted from the concrete cracks,

Built me up strong so I’d never look back.

From the ghetto to the stage, I carved my name,

No silver spoon, just hustle and pain,

Family turned strangers when I couldn’t make it rain,

Now I’m drippin’ success, but they only wanna claim.

Self-made in this world, never owned but the dream,

American anthem with a Bollywood theme.

Uncles with the 711s, Dunkin’s on the block,

‘Nephew, get a job,’ but the offer never dropped,

I bagged groceries and rhymed in the dead night,

Wrote my own story when the family closed tight.

Cousins chased degrees while I battled for the mic,

Tales from the gutter, I turned pain into hype,

Rap game an outcast ‘til I blew up the charts,

Put my heritage in verses, made the culture play a part.

Let ‘em line up for a handout, but they ain’t part of my grind,

Didn’t answer calls when I was breaking my mind,

I shattered every ceiling with the truth in my rhymes,

Freedom tasted sweet when I left them behind.

Now the cash stacks tall, but my soul stays lone,

Had to lose a family so I could build my own,

Blending colors of my past into a legacy grown,

Devoured the American dream, made the struggle my home.

One foot in the future, one foot in the past,

Cheers to the boy who made the struggle last,

I forged my own path, I answered my own call,

Made in two worlds, but I’m standing tall.
