Marigold Lights for the Returning Souls

I set the marigolds along the stone

A line of gold to guide you home

Candles tremble in the evening air

I feel your footsteps everywhere

Come to me softly in the dreamlight

Cross the veil when the stars burn bright

I keep a candle, I keep your name

Love does not leave a change of shape

Mary goes blue where the memories lay

And I still sing you back today

Your old laughter moves through the kitchen door

Like a prayer I have heard before

I pour the tea, I open the night

For your gentle shadow and your light

Come to me softly in the dreamlight

Cross the veil when the stars burn bright

I keep a candle, I keep your name

Love does not leave, it changes shape

Marigolds bloom where the memories lay

And I still sing you back today

If you wander far

The road grows cold

Follow the flame

Follow the gold

Every tear I give the sky

Turns to a lantern in your eyes

Come to me softly in the dreamlight

Cross the veil when the stars burn bright

I keep a candle, I keep your name

Life does not leave, it changes shape

Marigolds bloom where the memories lay

And I still sing you back today

Come home in the hush of the dawn's first glow

And every flower I still know
