Marigolds for the Missing

I set the candle by the door

And place your portrait on the lace

Marigold petals on the sword

To light the path back to this place

The distant bells begin to ring

Like memories in the open air

I whisper softly, come and see

Your shadow resting everywhere

I leave you breath, I leave you light

I leave my tears beneath the night

Come home through the marigold rain

And let me feel your name again

The copper moon leans low and kind

The guitar hums a prayer for you

I hear your footsteps close behind

Like little echoes coming through

The walls grow warm, the room is still

A tender hush, a holy spark

I'd feel your love against my will

A hand of velvet in the dark

I leave you bread, I leave you light

I leave my tears beneath the night

Come home through the marigold rain

And let me feel your name again

If love can travel past the veil

Then find this house and find my heart

Return on every wind that sails

And never let us trust apart

I leave you bright, I leave you high

I leave my tears beneath the night

Come home through the marigold rain

And let me seal your name again

When dawn arrives, you fade, you stay

In every bell and every flame

I offer love and you remain

The beloved dead who call my name
