Velvet Elevator

[Verse 1]

You step in

Perfume and trouble

Press that button

Straight to double

Your hand

On the rail like “trust me”

My heart

Doing laps in luxury

You laugh low

Say “don’t look down”

Floor lights flicker

Like a crown

Close space

But my mind runs wild

You say

“Relax

Enjoy the ride”

[Chorus]

On that velvet elevator

Going up

Going up

Don’t stop

Every floor a little greater

But you’re the view at the top

We keep rising

Higher

Later

Doors close

Bodies lock

On that velvet elevator

Going up ’til the cables pop (hey!)

[Verse 2]

Soft chime

Another door opens

We stay

Acting like it’s broken

Your lips

Right there by the numbers

This rush

Got me seeing double

You spin

In the mirrored ceiling

One look

Got my future reeling

You say

You spin

In the mirrored ceiling

One look

Got my future reeling

You say

“Guess we missed our floor”

I say

“Guess we need some more”

[Chorus]

On that velvet elevator

Going up

Going up

Don’t stop

Every floor a little greater

But you’re the view at the top

We keep rising

Higher

Later

Doors close

Bodies lock

On that velvet elevator

Going up ’til the cables pop (oh yeah)

[Bridge]

[Beat drops to bass and snaps]

Stuck between heaven and lobby

You pull me in

Say “you got me”

Breath on my neck like a promise

Whole damn world in this box

Just honest

[Strings swell back in]

No ground

No sky

Just you

And I

[Strings swell back in]

No ground

No sky

Just you

And I

[Chorus]

On that velvet elevator

Going up

Going up

Don’t stop

Every floor a little greater

But you’re the view at the top

We keep rising

Higher

Later

Doors close

Bodies lock

On that velvet elevator

Going up ’til the cables pop (going up, going up)

On that velvet elevator

Never want that ride to stop
