Backroad on a Friday

[Verse 1]

You pull up

Dust on your lashes

Blue flannel half-tucked

Lip gloss on the dash

You climb in laughing

Feet on my seat

Say

But you still got me

Backroad on a Friday

Tailgate halo on your hair

If this is wrong

I don’t wanna play fair

Hit repeat on the night

On the kiss

On the song

Backroad on a Friday

Keep it running too long (too long)

[Verse 2]

Your phone

Blows up in the console

You say “Let it ring

I’m busy being trouble”

Small-town sky

Spilling out stars

You draw your name

On my dusty dash heart

[Chorus]

We’re just two hearts

One highway

Hands up

Windows down

We don’t care who’s watching (no way)

You slide across that bench seat

Singing off key

But you still got me

Backroad on a Friday

Tailgate halo on your hair

If this is wrong

I don’t wanna play fair

Hit repeat on the night

On the kiss

On the song

Backroad on a Friday

Keep it running too long (too long)

[Bridge]

Spin it back

Spin it back

Same road

Same track (hey!)

Same girl

Same laugh

I could live right here in this flash

[Chorus]

We’re just two hearts

One highway

Hands up

Windows down

You slide across that bench seat

Singing off key

But you still got me

Backroad on a Friday

Tailgate halo on your hair

If this is wrong

I don’t wanna play fair

Hit repeat on the night

On the kiss

On the song

Backroad on a Friday

Keep it running too long (too long)
