Cracked Mug on the Shelf

A cracked mug on the shelf

After moon and day

Sits where the light lands

Late and gray

One small chip where your hand used to be

Now it holds the quiet instead of tea

A cracked mug on the shelf

after moon and day

Tells me the home we had has changed

Dust in the air

Boxes away

And I still reach for you at waste

The rooms are full of echo and space

Every corner remembers your face

I unpack clocks, I stack up plates

But the silence knows what time it takes

A cracked mug on the shelf after moving days

Tells me the home we had has changed

Dust in the air, boxes away

And I still reach for you that way
