Half Tank, Open Sky

[Verse 1]

Sun chewing through the dash

Your feet on my old suitcase

Hair tangled

Radio trash

We miss another exit

Laugh

Let the moment slide

A bug-smeared windshield movie

Of fields all blurring by

[Chorus]

We got a half tank

Open sky

Nowhere to be by closing time

Roll the windows down

Let the years fly out

Singing every word we half forgot

Chasing every small town coffee shop

If this road goes on forever

I’m fine figuring it out

[Verse 2]

Polaroids on the visor

Shake them ‘til the colors wake

Your bracelet taps the window

In rhythm with the breaks we take

You circle names on road signs

Like secrets on a page

We’re older than we planned to be

Still kids inside this cage

[Chorus]

We got a half tank

Open sky

Nowhere to be by closing time

Roll the windows down

Let the years fly out

Singing every word we half forgot

Chasing every small town coffee shop

If this road goes on forever

I’m fine figuring it out

[Bridge]

Remember that July

Sleeping in the backseat

Talking till the dawn

Thought we’d lose each other

But every time we leave

We just move on

Maybe growing up’s just learning

Which roads you don’t turn around

(oh) Right now all I know is

I like this stretch of ground

[Chorus]

We got a half tank

Open sky

Nowhere to be by closing time

Roll the windows down

Let the years fly out

Singing every word we half forgot

Chasing every small town coffee shop

If this road goes on forever

I’m fine figuring it out

[Chorus]

We got a half tank

Open sky

Old stories in a brand-new light

Roll the windows down

Let tomorrow wait

Singing every wrong word way too loud

You and me

This endless route

If this road goes on forever

Let’s just never turn around
