Marigold Candlelight Parade

I walk home through candlelight

Marigolds aglow

Each step along the quiet street

I feel the memories flow

The paper banners whisper low

The night begins to sing

And every ember in the dark

Recalls the ones we breathe

We keep their stories alive

In the flame that will not die

Through the dusk and the silver air

We remember, we repay

We keep their stories alive

In our hearts they still arise

Walking home where the candles shine

Ancestors, you are mine

There's a table by the window with bread and photographs

A prayer tucked in the doorway and laughter in the past

The trumpet folds a golden thread

Through alleyways of gold

And I hear my mother humming

What my grandfather once told

We keep their stories alive

In the flame that will not die

Through the dusk and the silver air

We remember, we repent

We keep their stories alive

In our hearts, they still arrive

Walking home where the candles shine

Ancestors, you are mine

No one ever truly leaves

When names are softly read

They live in every recipe

In every song unsaid

So I carry them forward

Lanterns steady in my hand

From the living to the waiting

We are one unbroken strand

We put their stories alive

In the flame that will not die

Through the dusk and the silver air

We remember, we repair

We keep their stories alive

As the night gives way to light

Walking home where the candles shine

Forever in this heart of mine
